Athena With Flute Band Ring
The mighty Athena (Minerva) was associated with fierce intellect, strategic battle and competence. The motif on the band ring depicts the goddess playing the aulos (double flute) which she crafted herself. She’s being followed by the satyr, Marsyus, who was to find the flute after Athena had abandoned it and went on to invent the music of the instrument.
